VESPER is a fictional thirteen-course tasting house in the Marais, helmed by Chef Aurélien Vesper — a Camargue-born chef who cooks over open fire. The site was conceived to translate that physicality (heat, shadow, ritual) into a digital experience that resists every cliché of the "restaurant website": no carousel, no overlay-on-image hero, no section called Our Story.
Vesper is a luxury restaurant website designed to showcase a modern fine dining experience through immersive visuals and elegant typography. Developed in Webflow, the project combines sophisticated aesthetics with responsive functionality to create a memorable digital presence that reflects the restaurant's distinctive character. The objective was to build a visually striking platform that communicates the restaurant's story, highlights its culinary offering, and encourages reservations. Every design decision—from the cinematic hero section to the refined typography and layered visual hierarchy—was crafted to evoke a sense of exclusivity and elevate the user experience.
Key elements:
Identity system — brand name, voice, palette (midnight, wine, gold), and a typography pairing of Cormorant Garamond italic with Outfit and JetBrains Mono
Cinematic hero with parallax background and word-by-word headline reveal
Editorial chef spread using opposing parallax (image drifts down, text drifts up) to create perceived depth
Horizontal tasting menu — six courses revealed through a scroll-pinned horizontal track with a live progress indicator
Asymmetric gallery where each photograph has its own independent parallax offset
Stylised location map with a gold heartbeat marker
Giant scroll-revealed wordmark as the closing gesture in the footer
Outcome
A site that behaves like a tasting menu: it asks the visitor to sit down, to wait, to look up. Every choice — typeface, palette, easing, copy register — converges on a single promise: forged in fire, served in shadow.
